Head of a female figure

11th century

Pink sandstone

Galerie Philippe Dodier, Avranches France

Collection de Monsieur R.L. acquired from the Galerie Philippe Dodier

The rounded beautiful face with a serene expression is marked by heavy-lidded almond-shaped eyes below gently arched eyebrows. The full lips form a benevolent smile. The ears are fully decorated with floral earrings. The female figure wears a refined and elegant double collar. Her wavy hair is adorned with a remarkable elegant floral beaded headdress.

Remains of ancient pigments in the stone are still visible.
