A pair of seated and kneeling monks

19th century

Bronze

H36cm (each)

Pair of seated monks from Burma, both represented in kneeling posture, on a lotus base, the legs tucked under their bodies, the hands in anjalimudra, wearing monastic garment, their heads bowed down, their faces displaying a serene expression, with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, elongated earlobes and shaven hairdos. Very nice patina of the bronze
