Tea pot with dragon
A very unusual, eccentrically formed teapot with silver repoussé decoration. The curved foot is flared and has a crown of lotus leaves. On the spherical body are two, four-pointed fields with images, one with a goateed recluse beneath treetops with a deer in front and an elephant plus rabbit to the side. On the opposite side is a monkey on an elephant under treetops. The whole widely curved, swerving handle has the form of a scaled dragon with red inlay eyes, a flaming end, horns and green magic pearl (mineral or glass) in its mouth. The long, extended spout protrudes from a makhara. Ribbed hems, the curved lid has floral ornamentation and is capped off by a bud-shaped knob. Good, complete condition with patina.
